Hotels in Brussels are numerous. Don't forget to book your hotel in advance because during the week many hotels in Brussels are fastly fully booked. A hotel in Bruges is always an escape if Brussels is complete, but this means you will have to take the train every day to visit Brussels ( almost about 1 hour). Bruges of course has it charm and if you like to have a quiet sleep in an historic city it might even be not such a bad idea to stay in Bruges.
From Brussels it is easy to visit Antwerp and Ghent and if you are willing even the seaside is not that far away ( Ostend and knokke-heist can both be reached in less than 1.30h in train)
